‘Car T Cell Therapy’ to destroy cancer cells

Surgery to remove the cancer affected area, radiotherapy to destroy the cells in the affected area by radiation, chemotherapy to destroy the cancer cells with drugs, targeted therapy to kill only the cancer cells, etc. Car T cell therapy is a promising new treatment technology for patients with a chance of survival.

For some reason, immune cells may not be able to efficiently kill cancer cells. The immune cells, called T cells, are taken from the patient’s body. These cells are then genetically modified to identify and destroy cancer cells in a specialized laboratory using biotechnology combined with engineering. Re-injected into the body. These remain permanently in the body. T cells can also be donated from a healthy person.

These cells, called synthetic biology, remain permanently in the body. This technology was introduced 12 years ago. A patient with lymph node cancer was first given CAR T cell therapy. Hope came over this new method when we saw that cancer cells were temporarily destroyed. In 2010, a girl named Emily from America was diagnosed with leukemia. When no other treatment was effective and he had only a few months to live, he was given stem cell therapy and lived normally for 11 years.

We introduced this new technology in our center in November 2022. So far six people, including a child, have been given Car de Cell therapy. Of these, four were given experimentally and two received transgenic T cells from abroad.

All of them had undergone all kinds of cancer treatment and were in a condition where they could only live for the next few months. After this new treatment, three people have been cancer-free for one year and three for six months.

Car T cell therapy is currently used only for leukemia, lymph node cancer, and bone marrow cancer. For patients who have not responded to any other cancer treatment, CAR T cell therapy offers new hope. As a result, there is hope that cancer tumors in the kidney cells, which cannot be cured, can also be cured. Car T cell therapy holds promise for many challenging autoimmune diseases besides cancer as immune cells are taken outside, genetically modified and injected inside, and destroy diseased cells at high speed.
